| Year 5
This term, Year 5 have discovered all about Viking invaders and brought their learning to life.
The children first discovered how the Vikings started out as explorers but then turned to raiding and invading. In order to help develop their knowledge, the children acted out the various roles that there would be on a Viking longship. This helped them gain a better understanding of what living conditions would be for such a long journey in lots of different weather conditions. The children also enjoyed making their very own Viking longship in order to help bring learning to life even more.
Next, they discovered what it was like for both the monks and Vikings during the raid of Lindisfarne. The children then considered raider or invader - which is better / worse and why? The children put together a piece for 'Sherborne News' to discuss the question at hand - watch below!
