Clare Mathema

I have had the pleasure of working at Sherborne House for the past eight years. I love the diverse, harmonious community and the nurturing environment. It is a privilege to be able to personalise the children’s learning with such small classes. I have a wonderful Lower School team of teachers and teaching assistants who are dedicated to the children’s learning and well-being.

Before Sherborne House, I spent over twenty years teaching across the Primary range in schools in Berkshire and Hampshire. The Lower School years are unique in terms of children’s development, and I have extensive experience in teaching in this age range.

I play netball in a local netball league, and I love to swim. My greatest swimming achievement was competing in the 50m butterfly at the European Masters Swimming Championships. One of the most memorable moments of my life was undertaking the role of an International Election Observer at South Africa’s first democratic elections.

I have two teenage children. My daughter is currently studying medicine at Sheffield University, and my son is interested in pursuing a career in Physiotherapy. My husband is originally from Nepal, which makes for a diverse and vibrant household.
