| Year 1

The children in Year 1 were extremely excited to use our new computing platform, ‘Purple Mash.’

Purple Mash hosts an exciting mash-up of curriculum focused activities, creative tools, programs and games to support and inspire creative learning every day. From poems to newspapers, masks and 3D models, animations and textured paintings, Purple Mash supports a creative curriculum throughout the year. As Purple Mash is online, children can continue their learning anywhere and anytime. Each user receives an individual login to save and retrieve their work.

The children could not wait to get started with ‘Purple Mash.’ The graphics are visually motivating and the software is easy to navigate around which makes it very appealing to the younger members of the school.

The Year 1 children worked in pairs to gather information from their peers, which they then entered into the program ‘2Count’. The children were inspired by the choice of categories which ranged from favourite food to favourite emoji!

The children then realised how easy it was to see which was the most and least popular choices. We, the teachers, were very impressed with the way that the children tackled the activity and every pair was able to save their pictogram.

The Year 1s are already looking forward to exploring more of the programs on this exciting new computing platform!
