Developing Knowledge Through Experiments

As part of their topic on plants, Year 1 have been learning about the ways in which plants are nurtured so that they are healthy.

The children have been in awe when discovering the results of their cress experiment. Last week, they planted cress seeds and placed them in a range of different conditions. A lot of children made the sensible prediction that the tallest cress would be the plants in the dark as they have learnt that plants in the dark grow tall when looking for sunlight.

The children have learnt a lot through observing the changes to the plants in different conditions and understand much more about what they should provide for plants so that they are healthy.
