After receiving a UK Crime Lab Report, detailing the theft of a laptop and password, the children were challenged to demonstrate their knowledge of the properties of light in order to help solve the crime, from clues given.
The purpose of the first activity was to assess the pupil's knowledge and encourage them to apply it to new situations in order to prove scientifically whether or not the given suspects could have committed the crime.
The investigation is taking place in stages and currently, the children have been able to rule out one suspect, based on the application of their knowledge of the way in which light travels and can be seen by humans.
The children have all been inspired by the challenge and fully engaged in discussions, practical work and the delivery of their conclusions and cannot wait to continue their investigative work over the next few weeks in order to bring the thief to justice.
