| Pre-Reception | Reception | Year 1 | Year 2 | Year 3 | Year 4 | Year 5 | Year 6
This week, all the children at Sherborne House School, from our Pre-Reception to Year 6, had an exciting day celebrating World Maths Day. The pupils embraced their year group themes and wowed all the staff with their imaginative and clever maths themed costumes.
During the day, every year group had the opportunity to complete a variety of activities in their classroom linked to Maths as well as with their specialist teachers, in language lessons, Music, PE, Dance and Art. The activities ranged from making cakes (weighing and measuring the mixture), playing samba music (counting down to the rhythm of the beat) and creating shapes using their bodies in gymnastics; to naming shapes in French, creating maps (using coordinates and compasses), creating sundials and a special sports day (involving maths questions and relay races) - to name just a few!
The highlight of the day was the costume parade in the hall. Mr Beach was very impressed with all the costumes and the children (and teachers) loved showing off their costumes for the competition. After some careful consideration, Mr Beach selected a winner from each year group to win best costume. The winners will be awarded their certificate and prize in celebration assembly on Friday.
A special thank you goes out to all the parents for helping the children with their costumes and a super well done to all the children for engaging so enthusiastically in all of the maths themed activities. Bring on the next World Maths Day!
