| Year 4
Sherborne House have been joining thousands of schools around the world in celebrating World Book Day! We introduced this year’s theme of ‘Share a Story’ throughout the week and the children have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a range of exciting activities. Year 4 enjoyed having a book theme to their English lessons and have been developing their expression and intonation through reading passages to an audience. They have been answering questions in detail on different texts, working on their comprehension skills, as well as writing riddles to encourage the development of their descriptive writing. We also enjoyed completing various ‘stop, drop and read’ sessions. This is where the class teacher would blow their whistle at various points during the day and the children would need to stop what they were doing and read for 5 minutes. All of the book week activities have been designed to encourage a love of reading with the children and they have thoroughly enjoyed it!
