| Year 3
The children in Year 3 have enjoyed learning about the famous Artist, Vincent Van Gogh. They know that he was born in the Netherlands. Some of his most famous paintings were ‘Sunflowers’, ‘A Starry night’, and ‘The Potato Eaters’. The children have learnt that over 800 of his paintings were oil paintings. Our art lessons linked to our History of the Titanic and the children based their work on the fateful night when the ‘unsinkable’ ship struck and iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean. They used water colours to paint the ship and looked closely at the style of ‘A Starry Night’ to complete the ocean and sky. They used oil pastels and lots of small strokes to create the same effect Vincent Van Gogh did. Year Three are very proud of their artwork and so they should be. The project took sustained effort over a number of weeks to complete.
