The children have been finding out about the properties of 2-D and 3-D shapes. They are beginning to use mathematical language such as vertices to describe corners and to describe the differences between cubes and cuboids.

The children have been on a shape walk, looking for 2-D shapes in the world around them. They found circles, squares, rectangles and triangles, recording their findings using words and drawings. The learning about shape has culminated in the children making shape pictures using plastic 2-D shapes and paper 2-D shapes. They described their picture and identified all the shapes they had used.
