| Reception

This term Reception’s theme for learning is ‘Tomorrow’s World’. We began our topic by discovering an ocean which had been contaminated with litter.

The children were very quick to identify the problem which this caused for the creatures in the ocean and were keen to help. They set about clearing the litter out of the water and then were eager to see if they could help the other animals. They decided to go on a litter pick around the school grounds. We then discussed our theme ‘Tomorrow’s World’ and the children came up with ideas to help save animals, they discussed how to recycle and the importance of not dropping litter that could end up in the ocean.

We then shared the story of the Rainbow Fish which is our text for the next few weeks. Reception then designed and described their own special fish for the ocean and have been using their growing Phonic knowledge to help them improve their writing.
