| Year 1
Every child in Year 1 has been paired up with a year 5 ‘buddy’. Each week, Year 5 visit year 1 and share a story with their partners. Both year groups very much look forward to this time together. It has been wonderful to listen to the conversations and to hear the excellent questioning by the older children; it looks like we have some future teachers among us!
In history, we have been learning about the story of Grace Darling. We used drama to help us to understand her bravery and the significance of her actions. The children wrote some super newspaper reports, relaying the events of the rescue. They were encouraged to add powerful adjectives and make careful verb choices. The children then continued their learning to investigate why she became famous.
