| Year 4

Year 4 have started this term with a zip and a zing, learning all about electrical circuits and how electricity flows through a wire.

As part of our learning we played the circuit game - all the children coming together to create a circuit while passing the electrical current (lots of sports balls) around our circuit. We discovered that a switch stops the electricity flowing beyond the cell and that a bulb will light up when the circuit is uninterrupted.

We now know all about the symbols and descriptions of the components of a circuit and cannot wait to put these into practise next week when we will be earning our ‘Sherborne House Junior Electrician Certificate’.

As part of our learning we discussed all that we knew already about electricity and decided that we wanted to investigate other forms of producing energy, particularly renewable energy and how a solar cell and wind turbine works.
