Having introduced girls’ cricket last summer, which presented nearly all of them with the challenging task of learning a new game from scratch, it has been wonderful to see how quickly the girls have progressed the beginners' skills of last season and to watch the growing level of batting and bowling techniques.

Launching straight into the second half of the summer term, the U11 teams challenged Salisbury Cathedral School and Godolphin School in matches on the same day.

The team playing Salisbury Cathedral School started very well and successfully took 6 wickets with an excellent team effort. When batting, the team only lost 2 wickets. When the final pair batted, Sherborne House were 225-231, with everything to play for. In a very close and nail-biting game, the team won the game by 9 runs. A huge well done!

The team playing Godolphin School had a steady stream of runs to start the game. The girls were quick and efficient with their fielding, reducing the other team's runs. The game was very exciting and on the final ball of the game, Godolphin needed one run to win. They scored despite Sherborne's best efforts, in an exciting finale. Another extremely close and nail-biting game, with all the girls showing great teamwork and cricket skills.
