Remember, Remember the 5th of November, Gunpowder, treason and plot...
The children in Year 1 are learning about Guy Fawkes and The Gunpowder Plot as their ‘One moment in time’ this half term. During our history and English lessons, the children have learnt the story of ‘The Gunpowder Plot’ and the children decided that Guy Fawkes and his accomplices were ‘baddies’. They were able to recall facts about what happened on the night of the 5th of November and were surprised to hear what happened at the end. The children also thought about what they would like to find out and shared our questions with each other. The children now know that bonfire and fireworks night is a celebration that Guy Fawkes was unsuccessful at blowing up the Houses of Parliament.
Linking to art, the children enjoyed using brightly coloured paints and straws to create their fireworks in the night sky. They used straws taped together in a star shape and had a choice of colourful paints!
