The children in Year 1 have begun to learn about the famous artist, Andy Warhol, in art this term.

They discovered that he created pieces of artwork using repeating pictures and that one of his most famous was a portrait of Marilyn Monroe. The children watched a video about how he created his artwork and they then set to work at creating their own using brightly coloured felt tip pens.

The children learnt that it was quite tricky to make sure that they used different colours and patterns on the shapes. They made their own choices about which repeating picture they would like to complete and all persevered to finish their work.

After seeing a range of portraits that Andy Warhol created, the children then used a photograph of themselves to create a self-portrait. They blocked each section using black felt tip and then used paints to complete it. Come and see their gallery in the classroom!

The children were all successful at creating their own Pop Art!
