The ‘Scottish’ play, Macbeth, has really captured the imaginations of Year 6 during their guided reading sessions.

The dastardly deeds of the protagonist and the prophecies of the three witches have left the children on tenterhooks. Will the story end happily? Is Macbeth truly the hero that they saw at the beginning of the play? Is Lady Macbeth as evil as we suspect? These are the very important questions that the children have been asking.

Year 6 are devouring Shakespeare’s play and impressing their teachers with their inferences and responses to the text through their use of roleplay, soundscapes and creative writing.

The children are inspired by Shakespeare and the teachers are inspired by the children’s interrogation of such a complex text.
