| Year 5

Year 5 created and flattened 3-D shapes to identify nets.

This week Year 5 have been exploring and identifying 2-D and 3-D shapes.

The children started the week by going on a hunt around school trying to find as many different shapes as they could. From there, we began to build our bank of vocabulary to use for this topic.

As the week has progressed, we have been using practical work to deepen the children’s understanding of language and giving them a means to be able to visualise the shapes and their properties.

We used Clixi shapes to build as many 3-D shapes as we could, before flattening them into their nets and trying to find more than one possible net. We transferred this into being able to visualise 3-D shapes from their 2-D nets.
