On Tuesday the whole school was involved in celebrating European Day of Languages. Thanks to our wonderful parents and grandparents volunteers, all the children had a lesson in a different language. Children from Pre Reception to Year 2 learnt to say their name and some colours in Spanish. Children in Key Stage 2 either learnt to count in Greek or to have a conversation in Italian.

The children’s response was fantastic! All worked extremely hard and impressed our volunteers. The lessons led to some interesting questions and reflections about similarities and differences in languages, why people learnt another language and who spoke a different language at home. We finished the day with a whole school assembly where we sang, found out about dialects in Great Britain and the positive impact learning a language has on our life. A big thank you, grazie, gracias and ευχαριστώ to all the children, staff and to our volunteers who made this day such a success.
