| Pre-Reception

This week in Pre-Reception we were celebrating Chinese New Year. During the week the children took part in a variety of activities. On Tuesday morning, the children took part in an old Chinese tradition. This was to think of a wish and hang it on a wishing tree for good luck. We had our own ‘wishing tree’ in the Early Years outdoor area which the children hung their wishes on. In the afternoon, Pre-Reception and Reception had a Chinese New Year party. The children had lots of fun and did a variety of fun activities such as: making spring rolls for their afternoon snack, using chopsticks to pick up raisins, Chinese crafts and much more! The children had a brilliant afternoon and really enjoyed their spring rolls.

It is important to teach children all about different religions and festivals around the world. It allows the children to express their own personal beliefs and to help them to show awareness of lives that may be different from themselves.
