This week in the baby room, the children have been using all of their senses to explore and take part in activities to celebrate Chinese New Year.
On Tuesday, the children used their sight and touch senses to explore a sensory tray. The tray included glitter, red and gold ribbon and sensory bottles. On Wednesday, they explored play-dough with their smell and touch senses; they enjoyed squeezing the play dough in their hands and exploring the different scents. Towards the end of the week, the children decorated rat pictures, some used their hands to paint, others wanted to use pencils and crayons.
Allowing the children to take part in these activities supports their development by helping the children experience the awe and wonder of the world in which they live, through the areas of learning.
