| Year 1
Spaceships took off and landed, plants grew, aliens had exciting adventures
English: We have been on many exciting alien adventures. The Year 1 aliens kept diaries about their wonderful adventures. We enjoyed exploring ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. We wrote letters, re-told the story and played ‘decision alley.’
Maths: we have been learning about multiplication and division, weighing, measuring, finding change and a particular highlight was potion making as part of our work on capacity.
Science: exciting experiments finding out the best conditions for plants to grow.
Geography: the Year 1 children have become very knowledgeable about the different continents.
History: castles have captured the children’s interest; they particularly enjoyed the gory bits!
Computing: the children have made good progress with their keyboard skills. They all enjoyed adding a picture to text while making a booklet about themselves.
Art: great fun was had making alien models; they really were all unique.
Dance: all the children put on a fantastic performance of their machine dance at the school fayre.
RE: the Year 1 children particularly enjoyed pairing up with the Year 2 children to create a poster about British values.
Reading Buddies: this has definitely been one of the highlights of each week. Both the Year 1 and Year 5 classes have found this a very valuable activity.
Scratch/Minecraft: 1M have loved having Ethan from Year 6 visiting every Friday afternoon to teach them something new.
