This week, we hosted our Autumn Open Morning for prospective parents. It has been a much-valued opportunity to articulate and share what we value most at Sherborne House School: our children are at the heart of all we do.
In pausing to reflect upon how we best demonstrate what your child’s educational journey with us will be, I was newly reminded of just how privileged we are to work alongside such an impressive group of youngsters.
When asked to speak in front of a room full of prospective parents, our Head Boy and Head Girl rose to the occasion, detailing their experience at Sherborne House School and their greatest achievements. A large number of our Year 6 children were also asked to take on the responsibility of guiding parents unaccompanied around the school for a tour, providing a number of details and facts about the school along the way.
All our children spoke with confidence, pride and authority: answering questions and imparting knowledge about their school career. The feedback from prospective parents was outstanding, and it was truly a pleasure to see the Year 6 children handle each situation with such composure and confidence.
Indeed, whilst academic excellence is a strong focus at the school, this is underpinned by a strong set of core values: nurture, inspire and value. We believe that emotional wellbeing and happiness are crucial to educational success.
This focus is most keenly demonstrated when observing the articulate and confident individuals our Year 6s have become as they have progressed up the school. Our children benefit from learning experiences throughout each key phase in school, during their Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, that offer purpose and challenge. Our children benefit also from a community that ensures consideration and reflection; and a recognition that we are all unique.
These strands underpin the success of a child’s navigation through their schooling: preparing them for each next step in their adventure.
