| Year 4

In Year 4 we have been learning all about the Romans and last Friday we had the opportunity to go to Fishbourne Roman Palace. This trip gave us the chance to see some amazing Roman artefacts and real examples of Roman mosaics, as well as the chance to learn all about how the palace was discovered beneath land in Chichester over 50 years ago. We enjoyed taking part in a Roman workshop led by the fantastic staff at Fishbourne and not only did this provide us with some amazing new facts, but we were also able to have a go at some examples of real life Roman activities. We enjoyed writing using the Roman alphabet, spinning wool using real tools from the Roman times, playing Roman board games, grinding flour, making our own stone mosaics and building Roman structures. Having completed our workshop, year 4 then had the opportunity to explore the museum and mosaics ourselves. We could look at Roman artefacts uncovered by the archaeologists who found the sight at Fishbourne, and we watched a film explaining all about how the site was uncovered. Year 4 had a fantastic day and we even had time to visit the gift shop!
