In Design Technology the children in Year 2 have been learning how to cut and slice safely, in order to prepare a fruit salad to take home. After tasting a variety of fruit and forming their own opinions on tastes and textures, they were all able to make their own choices before preparation began.
A wonderful selection of fruit was provided by the school kitchen which included strawberries, melon and raspberries. The children listened carefully to the instructions given, which of course included washing hands before and after this activity. They were able to demonstrate how to hold and use equipment safely and by the end of the activity some very colourful and well prepared fruit salads were ready to be taken home, which had been prepared by our skilled and very enthusiastic chefs in Year 2.
