Core Subjects
The core subjects of English, Maths and Science take up a large proportion of the timetable in the senior part of the school and are greatly supported and extended by technology.
The core subjects give children a thorough grounding in key skills and develop confidence and independence. Our goal is to make sure children leave Sherborne House with a thorough grounding in these key subjects. Our excellent results in senior school entrance exams show we are working to very high standards.
Additional Subjects
A full range of additional subjects is taught throughout the Prep School so that each child receives an extremely broad and balanced education.

Modern Foreign Languages
French
French is taught by a specialist who is a qualified teacher. The emphasis is on making the language accessible and enjoyable and children often find they are well ahead when they move to their senior schools.
Spanish
Spanish class is taught from Year 3 - Year 6.
We also have highly successful residential trips in Years 4, 5 and 6
ICT, Art, Drama & Music
In addition, every child is encouraged to be creative and imaginative, and there are plenty of opportunities for self-expression in a wide range of contexts. Creative opportunities, together with music, art and drama all play a prominent part in the life of the school.
Pupils have the opportunity to work on a variety of exciting projects, using a wide range of technology and resources, and to take part in local and national events and competitions.
Music
Parents are warmly welcomed to various music and drama events throughout the year, including form assemblies, ensemble and choir performances. The school also arranges outings to local and national theatre productions, as well as visits to the school from touring companies.
