Year 6 Residential Fun and Learning

Great opportunities for challenge, perseverance and fun at PGL.

From the moment we all arrived at school on Monday morning, there was a great excitement in the air. Laden with bags the happy Year 6 boarded the coach for their great adventure. Following a brief ferry crossing and coach trip, we soon arrived at ‘Little Canada’ - the Isle of Wight PGL centre. A cheery welcome met us from all of the PGL staff, especially our ‘Groupie’ - Jodie, who whisked us away to our first activities. What followed was 5 action packed days of challenge, fun and adventure for all of the children (not to mention the staff). A huge range of activities faced the children, from sailing and kayaking, to high rope challenges - the giant swing, climbing and the trapeze, tunneling and team problem solving.

A wonderful week was had by all involved, with each of the children finding something that challenged them. Some finding the water activities tough, some the high ropes, others the tunneling. Before we knew it we were all sitting around the beach campfire, on our last night, roasting marshmallows, reminiscing about all our achievements and adventures.
