Pilgrims U10

Report: A thoroughly enjoyable game to umpire for a variety or reasons. Firstly, our batting has improved throughout the squad and it was great to see some of the boys batting aggressively and chasing down a good score set by Pilgrims. Joe, Arthur and Ed I stood out in the batting and led the charge with some big shots and some fantastic technique. Our bowling has come on significantly, with all the boys working on their line and length accuracy and identifying what they need to improve without being asked to. Backing up was a focus from our last match and it was great to hear ‘Back up!’ being shouted when a fielder was sending the ball back to the stumps as well as 2 or 3 boys backing up. Overall a really positive fixture, well captained by Arthur and Pilgrims were made to very welcome by all our boys but a special mention must go to Alfie, who took himself off and sat with a whole group of Pilgrims boys without being specifically asked to. Well done to all!

Team: Arthur, Joe, Arun, Thomas, William, Ed I, Shravan, Henry, Blake and Alfie.

Player of the Match:  Ed I for his superb batting performance, hitting the only six of the game and for working incredibly hard as our wicket keeper.

PGS U10/11

Report: An incredibly close game right up until the final over and a great display of cricket all round. Our bowling, which is one of the hardest skills, is coming on leaps and bounds and our confidence is improving as a result. A focus of ours is definitely ensuring we are always awake in the field and looking for every wicket we can, ensuring the batting team are always under pressure. The batting display was fantastic today and it can be summed up by one word: ‘Attacking’. We chased down the total aggressively and forced the fielders to work hard whilst stealing quick singles and occasionally a second run as a result of an overthrow. This, alongside Aadi, Kishan, Zayd and Seb’s many boundaries eventually led to our success. Well done boys.

Team: Kishan, Oscar, Thomas, Thomas, Ethan, Aadi, Seb, Zayd, Faisel and Sonny

Player of the Match: Aadi – Great attacking batting style and lots 3 catches in the field.

PGS U10/11

Report: A game of tension and concentration today! We were slightly generous with our bowling and allowed PGS to get a few too many runs through our wides and no balls. However, we maintained pressure with good fielding and ensured the game didn’t get away from us through some aggrieve batting. Avi and Henry in particular, showed they’ve been listening to the plan of forcing the fielders to work hard and continuously pushed for singles as well as aggressively chasing those boundaries. Unfortunately, we gave ourselves too big a target to chase and the PGS boys did well to keep our total down! Well done to you!

Team: Manraj, William, Arjun. Will, Alex U, Jacob, Alex R, Henry and Arun.

Player of the Match: Avi – superb batting performance!

PGS U10/11

Report: A closely fought game today, cruelly defeated by the loss of wickets. Noticeable performances across the team sheet, both in the fielding and batting departments. We lost the toss and were asked to field first. The boys acquitted themselves well, It is great to see their bowling improving week on week. On the outfield, they worked well as a team, led expertly by George. Special mention should go to Ed for his excellent fielding and Brad for his 2 wickets taken. When it came to our turn to bat, the boys worked hard to hit as many boundaries as possible. We now need to work on our communication and reaction speed between the wickets, to make the most of any opportunities for singles.

Team: .George, George, Charlie, Olly, Ed, Shravan, Alfie, Blake, Brad, Jack.

Player of the Match: Brad - Taking 2 great wickets!

PGS U10/11

Report: Aman won the toss and decided to put the home team into bat. Bowling throughout the innings was reasonable tight but occasionally the odd no ball and wide added to the home side’s final total. William took the only wicket of the innings but a number of bowlers went extremely close and on another occasion they would have been rewarded with a wicket. Chasing 263 SHS started solidly in the opening few overs but a number of poor decisions resulted in two run outs and several near misses. Despite some excellent attacking shot from both William and Thomas the boys ran out of overs and lost by 16 runs.

Team: Thomas, Taran, Joe, Kabir, Aman, Charlie, Will, Ed, Archie and Freddie

Player of the Match: Thomas took some good catches behind the stumps and hit four full bloodied blows.
