Christmas Coleslaw on the Menu

In DT, Year 2 have been learning about food preparation. They also performed their assembly on Columbus to their parents.

The children began by looking at a variety of vegetables and sorting them by their own criteria. They learned how different vegetables grow and together with their countries of origin. The children built upon previously learned skills by grating, peeling and slicing onions, cabbage and carrots, which they then mixed together. For some festive variety, they added sultanas, before it was then taken home.

All the children participated enthusiastically and were delighted with their finished product. They all listened and followed the safety instructions involved in using practical equipment diligently. 

On Tuesday, Year 2 also performed their assembly about Columbus to their parents.
