The term ‘Early Years’ is used to describe children in our Nursery and Reception classes aged from 6 months to 5 years.
We recognise and value that your child arrives with their own unique combination of skills, experiences and values and at Sherborne House we seek to build on these, working in close partnership with parents, to ensure that all our children’s needs are met and that they become active, enthusiastic and independent learners.
Sherborne House School Early Years’ Department aims to provide a consistently high standard of education and care. We provide a secure, caring and inspiring environment where children are helped to develop as individuals. Each child is encouraged to have a positive self-image, alongside the ability to communicate happily and confidently, whilst developing positive relationships with children and adults.
At Sherborne House School our intention is to develop an ethos in which all will thrive. Diversity and differences will be valued, respected and celebrated by all, and these aspects will contribute to the richness of our school life and learning.
We recognise the importance of smooth transitions throughout the day between different activities and lessons, both when children join the school and also when they move on to the next year group. We have a number of procedures in place that make these transitions as smooth as possible. Click here to read our transition processes.
We also understand that parents are very busy. We offer an extended day for all pupils in school from 7:30am to 6pm. Read more about our wraparound care here.
