Churchers Contact

Report: In our first game of contact, the boys were slightly hesitant in the opening minutes and Churchers managed to build up a strong opening score. However, after a tackle or two and a few bumps on the ground, the team really started to get stuck in. With an increased confidence and 2 or 3 of the boys harnessing their increased aggression, we started to fight back. After spending a good portion of the second half on their try line, Fraser bundled his way over for our first try of the season. Throughout the game, Oscar worked hard in both defence and attack and alongside Ammar who showed great determination throughout. A tough game but lots of positives to take into training next week!

Team: Oscar, Krish, Fraser, Ammar ©, Thomas, Jesse and Zaki.

Player of the Match: Krish – Regardless of contact being a new addition to the game for this age group, Krish could not have been more involved. Running into contact at every opportunity and getting involved in as many tackles as possible, Krish was a menace and made it very difficult for the opposition.

U9 Churchers Contact Rugby

Report: The boys started the game well and made great progress throughout the game. Showing a developing understanding of what lines to run and how to set themselves up in defence. The boys put on an impressive display of running rugby and their confidence in the tackle increased with some fantastic work in the contact from Atharv, Andrew and Henry in particular. At one point, Isaac ran the length of the pitch for a fantastic try and would have made it 8-5 but unfortunately he hadn’t realised the referee was blowing the whistle as he had stepped into touch back up by the half way. Lots of positives to take away from the game and a clear few points to take to training.

Team: Darsh, Atharv ©, Andrew, Isaac, Riyan, Henry

Player of the Match: Andrew for an impressive display in contact and especially his tackling.

Churchers Touch rugby

Report: The boys in the game were showing all the skills of a great sevens team! Some effective running and an improving passing game led to our two scores and as the defensive positioning improved, we really began to pressure the opposition. Many of the boys showed an enormously improved confidence and will be eager to get involved with the contact game soon enough. Most importantly, every boy who attended the fixtures has developed a greater understanding and an improved confidence in the beautiful sport that is Rugby. Many of the boys here have the potential to make great additions to the many clubs around the county!

Team: Krishnu  ©,Charlie, Charlie, Krishiv, Christopher, Sam

Player of the Match: Charlie N – Fantastic running and a really positive approach to the match!

Report: The U10B battled well in this closely fought match. The ball was going up both ends of the court, but neither team were able to put the ball in the net. A special mention to Caitlin who was playing in her very first match, having recently joined SHS. I don’t think she was put off, as she asked when the next match was!

Team: Mia, Kaavya, Saachi, Tabitha P, Bella, Juliette, Ruby, Rose, Tabetha, Caitlin

Player of the Match:  Juliette for good passing.
