PR explore "Snail and the Whale" and Democracy

Pre-Reception have been exploring the story ‘The Snail and the Whale’ By Julia Donaldson, they have been learning how to describe main story settings and characters by talking through the events that take place in the story. To do this we worked on some story sequencing activities using pictures from the story book, and the children have also been involved in making our own sensory story. The children took part in this by making their own beach for the "Snail and the Whale", and have also been working on making clay models of their favourite characters. This way they were able to act out the story and enhance their understanding of the beginning, middle and end of the story.

We have also been learning a bit about Democracy, Individual Liberty, Mutual Respect and The Rule of Law in a variety of different ways. We have been busy sharing our ideas in our own Bumblebees Council, where we have been talking about our favourite subjects and discussing what we would like to learn about next. Pre-Reception have also begun to look at the value of money during our mathematics lessons, they have been working very hard!
